i am in the planning stages of a 1000-1200 gal mixed reef tank to grow corals. i need a strong pump to move alot of water. something as energy efficient as possible. i considered a dolphin but have read alot of posts that they tend to leak. any help appreciated. thanks

I would recommend the sequence it provides some the hightest volume water per watt efficiency.

They are quiet, powerful and the volute housing is rated to 100psi. They have saltwater rated components and the entire pump and motor can be serviced & repaired by MDM the manufacturer.

Given your tank size i would go for their big daddy the 6000SEQ or two mid sized ones to really move water around that tank. You will see greater flow too if you over size the intake. They use 1.5" but if you use 2" you will see better performance from the pump.
