Mostly plastic hose clamps, but sometimes heavy duty ties. Ties are probably a bit more secure, but clamps are removable. Note: stainless steel really isn't stainless in saltwater ;)

Umm, I always just shoved it on, never had a problem.

Should I be doing something different?? 8O

I've never had to use hose clamps as the fit from pump to hose is very snug, keeping in mind that the fit may degrade over time. So I check those connections regularly.

It's been working for me for the past 3 years. I just make sure it's a tight fit. Even I have a tuff time removing them when I need to.

Am I the only one that uses metal hose clamps anyway? The plastic clamp falls off too easily. If I applied enough pressure on the plastics, it will be a b!tch to get them off later on.

My tank have never encountered iron poisoning, if that's what y'all want to know, but maybe this is the reason my macro's are so lush................

I have it just going to barb fitting on my eheim return pump. It sits submerged and since its a standard fitting and metric tubing it's a wee bit snug. Maybe I should zip tie it when I get home.

I have a stainless one at the return bulkhead on the tank.

Thanks all, the flex tubing definetly was a b!tch to get on (impossible without boiling). I'm going to attach zip ties (because I would have to MO plastic clamps from the US) just in case... 8O

I use the metal ones, although I only have one submersible pump running a skimmer.

Erik- some plumbers grease or vegetable oil will help get flexible tubing on.

:D I've used the stainless hose clamps for years and all is well in my reef.

Hey danmhippo, do you think maybe that's why my macros are so lush as well...
