I need a good anti-siphon valve for the 1/4" tubing on my kalk reactor. Does anyone have a suggestion on where to find one that will work without constantly clogging?

I'm also curious as to how you plan on using this valve. i'm not aware of a 1/4" check valve, although I wouldn't be surprised if someone made it either. But personally, I don't trust check valves, and I would never use one if it's for the output side of the reactor since the calcium will make it completely undependable.

An anti siphon valve is different from a check valve. I am sure you can make one yourself if you can't fine one ready-made.

You maybe able to use a air-gap faucet (some use 1/4 tubings) and convert it to a anti-siphon valve... is that what you have in mind?

Its on the input side. I feed the reactor with a small pump from the sump. the reactor level is above the sump level so when the pump is off (its timed reverse photo period) the water siphons out of the reactor.

Can you just run the tubing over the top of the reactor between the pump and the input of the reactor?

Are you saying that you pump water from the sump (saltwater) into a kalkreactor? I always thought the input of a kalkreactor is RO/DI, and not salt water... :?

You may try a small tee close to water level in the sump. The straight flow through going to the reactor and the branch going back into the sump.

Just be sure to clip or attach the tubing running back to the sump just above the water level in the air. Water will flow to the reactor and also be flowing back into the sump. But when the pump stops and the siphon starts the branch to the sump will intake air and break the siphon.

The only problem I see with this is loosing gph from the pump.

Something that you may also try and use is the small check valves used for air pumps. It is to stop siphoning to air pumps when placed under the tank. I just don't know how reliable they would be constantly used inline with water.

Here is that check valve for airline tubing. You can pick one up for about a buck at any pet store like Petco or PetSmart.

Do not feed the Kalk reactor with tank water. The high pH in the reactor will essentially precipitate everything from the salt water. Kalk reactor use RO water input and output use to top off water and your tank water evaporates.
Unlike Kalk reactor, Ca reactor, on the other hand, use salt water from the tank as input.
Which reactor are you talking about here?
