I started stocking my tank with 4 juvenile common clowns, later added a haddoni anemone. One clown (the biggest, presumably now female) was alone in the anemone for a long time, but in recent weeks was joined by a mate. They just had their first batch of eggs. Of the remaining two, one disappeared (I suspect either the green brittle star, or it may have jumped into the overflow and expired before I missed it). The remaining one, Mini-me, is still tiny and doesn't hang out in the anemone, but there is no friction between it and the pair.

Sharkky,

Anemonefishes do not form harems. Their typical reproductive social structure is a permanent pair bond. It is common to find other sexually immature (always "male') individuals living in association with the same anemone that the adult pair uses.

A social group it certainly is. A harem it certainly is not.

Best regards,

Ya, that's what I meant. Thanks for clarifying. It was 0-dark-30 when I typed that out and I was grasping for words. :D

In one tank, I have 2 Maroon Clowns and 1 Pink skunk clown sharing 3 BTA's. In another tank I have 1 Maroon clown and a rose BTA.

The single Maroon is the cast off in a purchase of three Maroons. I bought three to develop of a pair. The third one was the odd man left out.

I have 1 GSM with a green BTA. I am trying to figure out when she will be ready to have a male join her. I really do not want to but another just to feed it to my current GSM.

You should remove that third Maroon clown if you don't want it to end up like the 4th one. In nature Maroon clowns live in pair only.

I truly do not understand why folks mix species of clowns in the same tanks, unless they have very large tanks or are trying to hybridize. Clowns are best kept as a pair, and it's very easy to pair them. The behavior of a pair is much more complex and interesting than a single fish.

Just one oscellaris, no anemone. Thinking about getting another oscellaris. The one I have won't leave my coral beauty's side, except after lights out. Maybe it should have a companion of it's own kind? :)

I have a pair of tomato clowns with an anemone.

I will always have clowns as pairs. There are not many reef fish (compared to FW) that get along with their own kind, and I like multiples of the same fish for some reason.

I've had one false perc for about a year now...and he seems happy. Perhaps I should get another.

I have a pair of maroon clowns. My BTA split a few months ago, but after my heater malfunctioned one of the clones was killed and one is still not looking well.

One false percula and a healthy BTA he hosts in. They are in my reef and anemone has stayed put since clown started feeding it. Had bad luck with my LTA in reef tank but BTA's seem less prone to wandering.

Charro, did you type in caps in your first 22 posts here and no one told you - this is BAD ??... I'd love for you to edit your post so we can read it comfortably.

However, the pic posted by Gary kind of pre-empted the window size anyway....

I have a pair of Orange-fins and they host in green and rose BTAs as you can see in my avatar on the left. They don't have a specific anemone since all my BTAs are on right side of my tank and touching each other.
