I remember reading a thread somewhere about treating fish injuries with iodine tincture. Has anyone else heard of this or know where the thread/article might be? Or am I just hallucinating again.

I've never heard of such a thing, but it's intriguing. How would one administer this treatment?

If I remeber correctly it was applied with a Q-tip or swab. I may be confusing it with antibiotic ointment.

I read the same thing in a book somewhere but I cannot tell you which book it was. If a fish is injured the stress from this treatment may cause more harm than good. My guess that a regular dose of potassium iodide would probably help fight infection. Clean water and some vitamins would be a good way to help recovery.

Now I remember where I heard this...it was on the Discovery Channel(maybe animal planet)...where they sedated a KOI(worth like ten grand) and they operated on some sores. When the operation was over they used iodine tincture to prevent infection. They didn't show how they applied it though.
