I am setting my reef tank up again after about a year that it has been out of commission and I am sick of using the tap water purifier and wanted to upgrade to either a RO/DI or a RO only system.

My problem is that I am a little low on cash and wanted to purchase a RO only system for now instead of a combo RO/DI, the price difference I hear is noticeable, does anyone have any input on if I was to purchase a RO only for now instead of the combo RO/DI and maybe add the DI later?

Does anyone have any idea on the cost of a RO only system?

Thanks in advance.

I only use RO. But a lot of depends on the quality of your tap water. Most cities and counties are required under Federal law to give you an analysis of your water quality.

MY TDS meter only reads 1 or 2 after my RO unit gets done with it's job. If I also had DI, it would read zero. I will eventually add DI to mine too.

Here is your solution a decent RO/DI; www.airwaterice.com , i have the Typhoon lll if you are a little low on cash here is the Typhoon l model, a RO/DI five stage unit for just $150.00 + shipping. This will do the job better than a RO only. Ralphyhp .

I have their typhoon original, best 150+shipping I have ever spent. One thing I will say is if I were to get another one I would ask them to put some packing material on the bottom of the box. When I saw what UPS did to the box I thought it was broken, guess I got lucky. I got the typhoon 1 because I could not find many many features that made it worth while.

If you already have the TWP you could just get an RO and hook the output to the TWP. Basically the same setup as RO/DI.

I agree with Chris. TWP is a DI-only filter. So you need a RO if you can spare some money. Shop around, and get the best price.

That one looks fine. You'll change the prefilters every 6 months or so, the DI when it is exhausted (varies) and the membrane should last a couple of years or more.
