Does anyone know if curly cues have a tendancy to split. I came home this afternoon and my curly cue had seperated from it's body. Stress?? Pollution?? Normal?? Help!

I've never seen this happen, but it's entirely possible. Permit me to copy this over to the General Reef Discussion forum where experienced hobbyists are likely to have more input.

The head seems to be moving around like nothing has happened?? I've seen this sort of thing with feather dusters in the past. Possibly the same thing?? I am worried if it is actually dead about leaving it in the tank in fear of an ammonia spike....

Usually they reprocuce by pedal laceration, leaving a smaller anemone by the foot. Haven't heard any reports of it but sounds entirely possible.
