Wow vodka in your aquarium? Thats alcohol abuse! :P

Seriously though, Ive never heard of this. Wouldnt the alcohol kind of float on top until it evaporated?

Seeing as your in Italy I believe I know what your asking about but can't be sure. I also don't read French and I'm heading off to work so at the moment I don't have the time to dig into this.
See ya in about 10 hours.

I've heard of this in Europe, but never knew anyone in the US that tried it. Apparently adding the vodka (or sugar, etc.) can stimulate the growth of certain bacteria which in turn can help lower nitrate/phosphate levels.

I haven't looked into it much (I have no interest in adding alcohol to my tank ;) ), but here's a thread that seems to have a lot of information:

yes, nitrate and phosfhate levels are lower than first, and wodka add carbonio (i don' t know translate it) to growth coral

Hey Pikkio81
Nope don't speak Italian either and many times I have trouble speaking English.
I really don't have any questions though maybe you can provide a link to your discussions or provide translation later on some of the discussion as I'm sure others on this forum would be interested on how our fellow hobbyiests do things in Europe.

Thanks for the link; I hope I'll find this extremely useful. :)
I wouldn't share my expensive vodka with my fish either; if they want good vodka they can go out and get a job.

If you're interested in adding alcohol to your reef, check out the Mark Weiss line of products. Reef Vital and Reef DNA. IMO, they are nothing more than fermenting apple juice. Provide an AWSOME carbon source for all the beneficial bacteria. Party on!!
