Can I use regular epoxy putty to attach my rocks and hard corals or I have to get the "special" putty? I got some special putty from marine depot long time ago and it looks and smell the same as the regular putty, the only thing I see different was the price :? .

Thanks

I've used marine epoxy sticks before with success, but I've been told there are many different types. I'd be concerned some leech more toxins then others. I know this isn't much help, but I just wanted to confirm that our "special" epoxy is sold for marine applications (like boat repair), usually for cheaper. The question is which one(s) :P

Any time there is a question about something like this the best way to go is to get the stuff advertised for the application. Using an untested product in your reef isn't worth it.
Putty is great for "pinning" things down, but not so great for "gluing" things together.
My preference is the grey putty (green exterior, grey interior). It doesn't look as out of place as the pink stuff.
