Any thing die? i think running some carbon maybe a good idea. No corals yet myself, might check water parameters. Prolly stressed big time?, any other corals in the tank?

carbon, good idea. yeah candy cane, ridcordea, mushrooms, zoos, finger leathers, bta and all fish look good. just the hammer looking bad. water params same as always, looking good. i just thought it was weird because the one branch looks great.

well, sadly I have to report my first loss of a coral in my reef keeping carreer of over a year. The little hammers are peeling off and floating away. well at least the one branch is still looking good though.

Keep an eye out for brown slime on the problem head, you don't want that spreading to the healthy one.

should i cut off the bad head, i was just planning on a water change and clearing off the dead flesh?

Nah, that might disturb the healthy one (cutting off the bad one that is). If you see brown slime on the bad one you can gently siphon it away using air tubing. I had to do that once and it worked fine, and the healthy heads continued to thrive.

Yeah, I'd leave it be, and continue to do things normally. Anything drastic offsets your eco system... just let it be.
