I have a 75g tank that I want to get rid of in favor of a smaller more easily movable tank more suitable to apartment lifestyle. So, I'll be keeping a lot of my equipment and was wondering how small of a tank I can put the 250W MH lights on? I was hoping to get a tank in the 12-20g range, but would be ok with up to 30g. Is this too much light for such a tank? Also, if the ballast I have is for running two bulbs, but I only used the one at a time- is that ok for the ballast?

Thanks

IMO 250 MH is PERFECT for a 30 Gallon tank. I have a 37g.. that fits in a 29g footprint.. and I run a 250w 20k MH Ocean Light Pendant. 400w.. probably too much.. 250.. just right.

I wouldn't know about running 1 bulb on a 2 bulb ballast. I would THINK it would be ok.. but just not sure ... so don't quote me on that one :)

Good luck!

I believe most dual-ballasts, atleast the one i have has 2 switches on it. 8O . I bet if i opened mine up it would simply be to single ballasts in a bigger encloser.
