Mushrooms have spread like rabbits

I started out with one or two tiny mushrooms, and now have them everywhere. They smother out the stuff on the rocks. What can I do to get rid of the ones that are in the way? Can I cut them off? Help!

Yes, you can cut them off. You can also put fragments of LR next to the mushroom and coax them to move. I would also highly suggest you break of chunks of rocks and sell them to LFS or trade them.

I am from an even smaller town that is close to you. Yep. I was born and raised in Temple GA.

As for your shrooms, get rid of them if you want to keep SPS corals. Shrooms are the devil and will eventually take over the whole tank.

I would try and siphon them off if you can during your next water change. That's the easiest way. The shroom needs to be bigger than the diameter of the hose your using.

If you cut them they will just come back. Remove the rock and trade them for bare ones.

Seeing as a crappy small piece of rock with only a few mushrooms cost $50 where I'm at, I'd love to have em, get the buggers to spread and trade em.

I would also suggest using them as funds. I have had the same two rocks of shooms forever, and they havent moved, and I have had th same number on the same rocks too.

It is interesting that the three other colors of shrooms I have are only reproducing once in a while. These lavender ones are like rabbits. They are in every crevice. They look great, though.

I've got the same problem with green hairy shrooms. I keep finding them EVERYWHERE in my tank.

Today I injected a few with a syringe and some Alk part of B Ionic. we'll see how they slough off, and see if they come back.

I also have a really nice piece of rock they're attatched to. I buried the rock under some sand, and I'll see how that works as well.

Are you in the Harmony by Punksy or by zelienople? I'm originally from Franklin. Next time I drive across I-80, would you like some green hairy shrooms and some florescent green mouthed rics? I'll give them to you to get them out of my tank!

I must be strange, because after keeping SPS and all sorts of other things, mushrooms are still among my favorite corals. I'm trying to get mine to spread in this latest tank, but they're not cooperating as fast as I woud like. I also have Euphylia, tridacnids and anemones, soI need more lighting than I would have with just mushrooms. This slows them down a bit I think.

My blue mushrooms are reproducing like rabbits, too. I don't target feed them, I'm afraid they'll get big enough to climb out and strangle me in the night. No skimmer on this tank and from the lack of comparable mushroom growth in the other tanks, I will assume that that is what is making the difference.

Yeah, I have some big green hairy ones that do that. The smaller coralamorphians don't though.

They are the devil weed! I hate them and can not get rid of them, hundreds in my SPS tank that was once two or three mushrooms a couple of years ago. I now take out live rock, that I can, and scrape them off with plenty of rock ensuring they don't come back.

Upgrading from a 110 to 330 right away and I'm going to try and get everyone with that method. Infested rock I'll sell to some one who has yet to learn they are evil.

I'm by Zelie, just a little north of there. I actually live in Middle Lancaster but its still classed as Harmony Boro.

I'd love to have em!

Would also like to know if you know any good LFS' around the area?
