is it safe for the fish and corals? I have seen the way UPS, FedEX and other shipper handle the boxes they deliver.

The fish go through enough stress just when you purchase them at a local fish store.

Is it really a good idea to buy livestock online?

A lot of us do it successfully.

One way to look at it, the critters go through a similar delivery process to get to your LFS. So by having it delivered to your home, you may actually be taking one step out of the process and making it easier on the animals.

At any rate, I find it more convenient to get livestock from the LFS when I can, but sometimes they just can't do the job. Like if I need 100 snails all at once, or a spectacular acro NOW and don't want to browse there for weeks until the LFS gets one I like. :)

I've never tried fish before. I've had a 100% survival rate when receiving frags and clams. 0% when it came to SPS colonies.

The one episode where I bought online fish went terrible, even though I did a lot of research and thought I picked a good company, but I have had good luck with frags and snails.

The one time I have ordered a frag it came great, except my stupidity killed it.

One word for the wise, buy a large order to compensate for the shipping.
