I just ordered the Natural Wave wave maker and two of those Hydor things to put on my Maxi-jet 1200's. They will alternate about every 30-40 seconds at oposite ends of the tank. Does anyone use them? I think it will make some really cool corrents.

How long have you had it?

Any problems?

Does it ever jam up?

I have one they're restricted to about 300gph, which isn't a deal with the maxijet.

I've had mine clog up once with a percula that got sucked into the powerhead and got smooshed agianst the mechanism.. but cleaning it is trivial, there are 2 pieces that move in the thing, and reassembly is rather easy.

I just got the shipment and set it up about two hours ago. I have removed the rotaters. The reduction in flow is evident. The two maxijet 1200's on the natural wave is awesome. In the future I will add a third. I may even get a mag drive with a splitter and add the rotators.

Thanks for the replies.

Unfortunately, after the first couple of cleanings, the white lock pin gets a little loose and the gears won't catch anymore. Works great for a couple of weeks, but most find it too unreliable.

Never cleaned mine. It's worked for months since I installed it, I've lost track of how many, I think 6. I'm always surprised when an astrea manages to get on it and ride round and round; how do they make the transition. I figure if the Hydor lasts 6 months or so, replacing it now and again at the price is worth it.

The Hydor is on a Rio... I hear they are unreliable too right? This one is 5 years old.

I guess, that is the problem with the lower cost devices such has hydor and
squid.

But at least is varies the flow.
