I just bought one when I was in florida and brought it home with me. I have had it in the tank for about three days and have not seen it. I know this is common with all the fish I buy but dangit I want to see him. Just wondering if you all had any experience on how long I should wait before I start looking for a carcas?

Thanks in advance

Na, you're fine. Try a little mysis. Don't over feed if nothing's eating the food.

My generally stays in the rocks and comes out at feding time. Once they get adjusted to your tank thay will come out sometimes, but generally stay hidden or near cover.

I am in the great state of South Dakota. I was gonna start another post because a couple of weeks ago someon was wondering about corals and fish as a carryon. It is very easy. I used a styrofoam cooler and wrote live fish on it. When I when threw the room of doom (Pre flight security) I asked them to hand check the cooler so they didnt kill everything running it throught the x-ray machine. Took about 10 minutes, they make you open the box and show them all the items and thats it. I bought about 150 bucks worth of fish, crabs, and anenomes and let me tell you they all would have costed about 350 here in South Dakota.

I hope you were there anyway. That round trip would have cost more than the $200 you saved on reef stuff.

No I didnt make a trip just for fish but it is a humurous assumption. I actuall visited my brother and to do some king fishing while I was there.

Mine hid in the overflow shortly after I put him in the tank. I found him in there four days later. I recommend you check the overflow and the sump. Luckly he never went back in there, as it was quite a job to get it out.

On the other hand, he's in the rocks for 80% of the time (but I can see it in less than 5 minutes usually).

I don't think I'm so lucky. I've pretty much given up on him. Saltwaterfish.com has six day guarentee, but doesn't do much good if you can't find a corpse!! that'll teach me not to qt!!

Must say, I'm pretty impressed with the quality of Saltwaterfish.com

Mine is still a no show. My wife is home all day with my daughter and they dont watch the tank all day but she has yet to see him either. I have been hoping to do some rescaping of my rock so I think this gives me a good reason to do it. He is sutch a beuatiful fish I hope he gets more comfortable so I can at least get a little happines out of the 15 bucks.

No sign of a dead fish or a living one when I moved the rocks last night. It kicked up some crap when I was moving the rocks though so he could have very easily swam by without me seeing.

Actually mine is coming to greet me when I approach the tank: it looks at me straight on, kind of saying: "Hi there!".

BTW, do they eat bristle worms? I saw mine often with bristles around the mouth. If so, that would explain its fast growth since I got it.

I found him!!!!

The little bugger was living inside a big piece of live rock. I had no idea that the little cave in it was large enough for him to get in or even to live in it. I was watching my CB shrimp when I saw a purple side out of the corner of my eye. I thought it was my Fiji Devil which is blue but then I saw the devil at the top of the tank begging for food so I know it wasn't him. I am still a little bummed I will almost never get to see this guy out and about.

Be patient! Mine wud first just stick his head out at meal time, later freq sightings behind the rocks. Now out behind the rocks most of the time w/freq sightings in front of the rocks.
