if you are throwing in Euro-reef and want a bargain i would buy an ES series.
it functions just as the more durable CS series but the body is plastic as opposed to acrylic. the collection cup and other bits are the same.
i looked around and had a hard time finding dealers for this line. i think you would need an ES8-3.
I've been using an Aqua-C EV-180 on my 120 for a couple of years, and will be selling it soon. I feel bad saying this because the people at Aqua-C are very nice, but I think it's an over-rated skimmer.
No, but I will soon! It's ok I guess, just doesn't seem very strong. Plus it goes flat so easily, from feeding or stirring the sand, that it seems to spend about half its time flat. Whenever it goes flat, where does the crap go? Back into the water...
Ithink the My Reef Skimmers are over rated as well. I had a MR-1 on my 58 for a long time and the skimmer hardly pulled out skimmate. I switches to a Euroreef ES5-3 and I had to dump the cup full of dark smelly skimmate every day for 2 weeks. Now I empty the cup ever 3 days.

You probably didnt have it tuned right. All becket skimmers IME outperform other types hey even Borneman went with a MRC becket skimmer. I have used both Aqua-C EV-120, and remora pro and think tha tthe injection method is useless. It is hard put a skimmer down when you spent so much money on them. I also used a Euro-reef CS8-3 IMO its just a big turboflotor, its a good skimmer but not as good as a bullet that is for sure.
I'd be very interested in your observations once you get the new skimmer...maybe I'm wrong about the AquaC, although the modest success I have had with my tank makes me think otherwise.
The beckett skimmers may skim the best, but I would prefer to use less power so am looking at needlewheel. The Euroreef and Deltec external recirculating skimmers look good, but expensive.
Geo's looks good and is very affordable, although he hasn't returned my email.
If I was going with a beckett Barraquatics looks interesting...
