I have looked before and never found an actual classification for my brittle star fish, I was looking through Marine Depot today and found this one. It looks exactly like mine.

Is their site accurate you think?

This is my actual starfish...

Here is something they say that I found interesting

The Bubble Tip Brittle Star requires a completely cycled and stable aquarium. Has bubble shaped apendages on arms and body and is an unusual and interesting species. Has a reputation for eating fish, the Brittle Star can attack fish if underfed and unable to scavenge for food. Feed raw shrimp, scallop, clam, mussel and other meaty bits frequently. Will learn to take food right from your fingers. This Sea Star is an excellent detrivore and will do a good job at keeping any excess food and detritus from building up.

And with that I must go put up the christmas lights, the wife will not let me slide any longer...

Lights are done

You think its really possible to feed that sucker by hand? I would love that, even though I am scared to death of the thing.

Its about 20 inches across at the moment, I imagine if I start feeding it like marine depot says to, I it will get thicker and thicker....

Knuck, Marine Depot and other places sell 20" long surgical forceps, kinda like huge tweezers. Thaw a chuck of silverside or other meaty food and use the forceps to hand fed your critter.

;) Nic pics, BTW.

yeah, isn't the rule in thumb in nature that VERY brightly colored/fancy colored invertibrates = poisonous (or toxic) ?? :)

Hey...those things can breathe air, and they like to suffocate people while they're sleeping.

Good luck.
