I do not like red sea skimmers. I had a berlin turbo and it did not perform well and the pumps do not restart after power outages.

What size tank do you have?

It's been a few years since I've used one. They're pretty useless for anything more than a 20 gal tank. They are hard to adjust and very noisy.

The Remora is way better. Plus its smoked black acrylic vs clear. Looks nice and skimms very well. I replaced my bak pak with a remora. Never looked back. For the money the remora is a better.

I own a Prism and am using it right now on a 10 gal reef.
I have to say at first, it was very noisey. I got nothing but clear skimmate out of it for weeks. The skimmer cup would fill up and start sucking skimmate back through the venturi tube. It sucked ( literally)
I finally read a little about tweaking it to make it work better. It started skimming darker and thicker and the noise died a little, but it was still very very loud and annoying.
I have never had it die and not come back on, but If had it to do all over again, I would have plumbed a sump, and maybe bought an Urchin.

I have owned several other skimmers, and I have to say that this one is by far my least favorite.

( in order from worst to best)
kent nataulis skimmer
seaclone
redsea prizm

my uncle has a redsea berlin or somthing like that ( its bigger) and likes it but i dont think he had it adjusted properly but the foam was really dark

I've got a Prizm on my reef lobster tank. It was a bit noisy originally, but I contacted the company and they have an 18vane impeller to replace the 12 that mine had. Lengthened the air tube a bit also and it runs way quieter.

It's a bit of a pain to tweak, but I get lots of nasty stuff out of the tank w/it.

I've got a BakPak on my 25 and love it. Got an insump model for my next tank.
