I got and installed one of these:

http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/P ... 004+113775

Made the mistake of not discarding the 1st 10 gallons of water. Maybe 1 or 2 gallons made it into a 150g tank. LPS and softie coral are closed up now not dead just looking unhappy. Clam, Cocoworm, shrooms, rics and LTA all look okay.

How bad is this?

Thanks in advance.

Do a 30% water change. Then another water change 24 hours.

I am thinking about getting one. How is it otherwise?

Thanks for the feedback, but seriously?

yer talking about a total of 90 gallons of water.

dunno otherwise.... it didn't leak, so that is a good thing.

30% is like 15 gallons. lol. sorry about that. I would if I was you. I would keep a really close eye on it. A water change would not hurt it!

Do you like the new add on DI unit. I am thinking about getting the same one. Made by Coral Life?

lol

30% of 150 gallons is 45 gallons. doing it 2x would be 90 gallons.

I will keep any eye on it. Running carbon now and if it gets worse, will do a water change.

Thanks again.

I really have no other thoughts on the unit just yet. Like I said, it didn't leak... I havent even TDS tested the output yet.

Yeah, get back to me on the TDS. I would like to know. I got a 6 stage RO with UV. I need to add a DI unit.

Yeah, carbon would be good. I would also skim wet for a while.

I am surprised that your tank reacted the way it did. The first 10 gal needed to be discard for caution, but it is not that bad other that slight organic compound in the resin that may leak out in first few gallon. Carbon should take care of that. It is possible that it is something else that bother your corals. Did you add the RO/DI in the sump so that there is very little salinity shock? :?

Thanks Steven, I was shocked too.

RO unit and top-off system were already there, added DI as was getting 40 on the TDS and some cyano.

What is the TDS of your tap water? 40 TDS from RO sound a bit high for VA area. :?

BTW, this is 7E, not Steven ;)

Sorry, ment to type seven, but habit tossed a "t" in there.

Tap water runs around 400-450... so I dunno, 40 is 90% better than 400.
