does anyone have expirence with these? i was recently given one at a phu-nom-i-nulll price. i have to say it is doing very well. it is certainly open more with the lights off than on. i have read that it is a low light creature so i have it in the lowest most furtherest side i can. it seems to be happy.

It is one of those fuzzy rock with worms on them? If that's what it is, it is Porites, and I have one for about 6 or 7 years (Brought from Jeff's Exotic). It need quite a bit of light, however, and it has changed color many times (brown, green, lime green, slight purple on some patches, then disappear and turn greenish yellow). These corals are very, very slow growing.

if it is the stoney coral with the colorful worms on them, they need a lot of light.

if it is a soft coral, i have seen people sell two types of christmas tree coral. one is photosynthetic and the other type isnt, you will need to figure out what species you have. the non-photosynethetic one needs to be fed with plankton or small foods or it will starve. the photosynthetic one can use a lot of light for energy.

It is Studeriotes sp.

Christmas tree or "French Tickler"

Should be placed on the bottom on the sand with strong water motion. They do not need light, they feed on daphnia, brine shrimp nauplii, and pulverized food suspended in the water. They probably will eat cyclopese.

They are considered difficult to keep.
