I have a slight problem. I ordered a pistol shrimp by mail for my nano cube. I know they aren't supposed to crack tanks and lots of people have them, but just in case it does, it's only 10 gallons of water.

But I also told my LFS guy I wanted a pistol shrimp and he ordered one for me. So I'm thinking of putting it in my 75 gallon.

Can a pistol shrimp crach a tank?

No.

Okay, I suppose it's theoretically possible. I haven't heard of any stories that were firsthand though.

Pistol shrimps can't crack glass. The clicking sound they make is not from the big claw snapping together, but rather a tiny ultrasonic air bubble this action creates. This stuns its prey. Mantis shrimps, on the other hand, will beat its prey :P

"crayfish association"......what a bunch of geeks!  :D

I asked what my lettuce slug eats on: www.seaslugforum.net

Expecting an answer of a particular species of macroalgae, I got useless info. Very disappointing for a devoted forum!

I always thought geek meant socially inept, but smart.

Not the case on the sea slug forum!

I found the answer on page 332 in Marine Inverts by Shimek

Guess they didn't bother to read it!
