Charcoal

Do any of you guys run charcoal? What are the benefits if I run it, then get rid of it so as not to run a nitrate factory? Anything?

I run about a cup or two in a filter sock set on the intake of my mag in the sump. I replace it every month. I do it just because.

I just started using carbon. I have Kent reef carbon. The directions say to leave it in for only days because it will also remove trace minerals. What u guys think?

I used to run AC for one week out of every month to polish the water via canister filter.

I run carbon 24/7. I have a filter cylinder that is powered by a MJ1200.

I change the carbon every few months.
