Trying to decide on a return pump for my sump. So far looked at Mag and Eheim

I have a 46gal bf, sump will be 20 or 30gal;

Concerns:

Noise, heat, longevity

My overflow is rated for 600gph, so I'm not looking to blow the roof off in terms of flow through the sump and back to the tank

Eheim 1260 looks like it may be a good fit, or Mag 7 - it will definitley by submersed so heat is a concern, looking for advice (my tank is located in the basement, so it does stay cooler than the rest of the house, but even so I absolutely do not want to have heat issues after setting up this sump!)

Thanks! :wink:

I would use the mag7. I have had good luck with the mag's in the past.

I agree with the Mag7.

Waterflow causes heat, fact of life. A fan on the sump does wonders.

Don't think that all of your waterflow needs to come from the sump. A closed loop or a large powerhead will work very well and is more efficient than a sump pump.

Ehiem. Spend the extra money. It will last longer, it's quieter, and you won't have to change out any screws. The stainless screws on mags do rust btw.
