is this a chilton?

i dont have a picture but its like a slug with a oval shell on its back and has aabout a third of its body trailing behind, and 2 antenna.

ive seen about 3/4 of them dotted about on the rocks but today i noticed one was extending with its head streched away from the rock and coughing out what looked like sand every few seconds. i have looked in the hitchhickers section and a chilton is the closest thing i can find but do they normally do this?

no its a commonly found hitchhiker,

check the HHFAQ

A chiton has a shell with 8 segments. If your creature does not have this, its not a chiton. From what you describe, It does not sound like one.
