RECIRCULATING skimming? eh?

ive seen several mods of octopus and MRC skimmers that are "recirculating" skimmers. What does this mean? Does it just boil down the water circulates down through the skimmer more than once before exiting?

It does exactly like it name says, it recirculates

Basically a pump is hooked to it, the input is the inside of the skimmer, the output, is the inside of the skimmer, it allows you to get more "swirling" and flow inside the skimmer with a reduce flow out of the skimmer back into the tank. This is usually a good thing because airbubbles get more contact time with nutrients allowing them to be skimmed out.

Recirculating is better skimming. BTW, you can do the mod yourself, if you want to same some bucks.

I guess you'd just come out of the side of the skimmer and back in (with a pump in the middle).
