garden hose safe for reef use?

are garden hoses okay to use to siphon and maybe pump water back into the tank during a water change? or should i stick with vinyl? i can get long garden hoses for very cheap.

I wouldnt.
Have you ever taken a drink from the garden hose in the summer? Remember that taste? Thats what would be going in your tank..

For emergency it is fine for a few hours. I would use drinking water-safe gardenhose if there is a choice. But for long term use, get PVC or other that is safe for potable water.

Use the black pvc irragation tubing in the 1/2" size.

honestly 1 inch clear flex pipe is like 39 cents per foot at Lowes. You should look into that.

Garden hose sometimes has anti-mildew chemicals in it. So I would say no.
