I was away for about 4 days. When I got back the tank looked great except for one thing. My anemone was lost. I looked everywhere in the tank but could not find it. I thought maybe it died and the hermits got it or something. When I checked the skimmer later in the evening I spotted the anemone in the sump. Check out this pic. I took last week. Amazingly, somehow this thing squeezed through the cracks in the strainer!! I put it back in the main tank, and it seems to be doing ok. How can I prevent this?? Maybe a foam cover or something over the strainer? I am still amazed how that thing squeezed through that small opening!

Yes, they can ooze through a very small opening. 8O

If you don't want to go with a foam cover, look around a craft store for bridal veil material. You can rubberband a piece over your strainer. It won't clog as fast as foam, and you can buy a bunch of it for cheap so when it gets icky you can just remove it and put a new piece on.

You know, I've been looking for bridal veil cloth at a couple of places and I seem to only find actual veils with the seams and all which are expensive. :?

And Laura, you still owe me pictures! :P

check craft stores.. or places that sell material (sometimes even Walmart carries it).

Also a florist can sell you some. it's called tulle (pronounced "tool"). You can buy it by the yard at a sewing store.. or off a smaller roll (like ribbon).. be warned though there are two differen sizes of mesh .. one with tiny openings and one with large.. I would say to go with the small holes..

also you can use pantyhose.. but it may clog faster.

hope this helps!
