Thanks Len

I'm taking it down for a bunch of reason.
The biggest thing is that I need a break from the constant stress. I went on vacation for a week in August and the bubble-rate for my CO2 tank slowed down. It was a very minor thing, but the ALK dip burned the tips of most of the SPS and started an STN event (you can see in the pic of the slimer where I had to break the tips off, they have since grown over and look ok now).

Also, my conscience bothers me. Several things cjdevito said in thread a couple of months ago have stuck with me.

Plus there is the money I funnel into this thing, for equipment, livestock, heating, lighting, etc.

Mainly I just need a break.

So if anyone wants to buy a full SPS tank send me a PM. Otherwise I'll probably start parting it out in a couple of weeks.

My tank gives me more stress relief then stress ;) I automated most of it. There are, of course, times of extreme stress when something unexpected happens. But that is true of just about any undertaking in life.

I've shut down my tanks before, only to want a tank again very shortly after. You might be different, but most hobbyists can't stay away for long. From experience, I'd recommend you keep the tank if budget is permitting ;) And it's better for the environment to keep a tank (and give away frags from it) then to set a new one up again

Now what did cjdevito say? :P

I've automated most of my tank too. It isn't the regular maintainence that stresses me out, its just the "what-ifs"... and that mostly just bothers me when I am travelling.

I suspect that I will want another tank again, but I want to see life on the other side first to know what I may (or may not) be missing.

cjdevito was explaining why he didn't have a tank a while ago. It was in a thread in the sump. I'll see if I can find it.

I get pangs of longing now and again. They subside in 48-60 hours.
