I usually have good success with them but this time....

The package (20 sps frags) was shipped tuesday to be delievered wed by 10:30. I took off work yesterday to be home for the package. 10:30 comes and goes so I call them.

"The package is stuck in tennesse b/c it missed the plane." "Am I going to get hte package today?" "Oh of course it will be on the next plane and right out to you." " Ok thanks"

5pm I call again. "You are supposed to ge that package tomorrow by 10:30, oh nevermind you were supposed to get it today, well looks like it will be in TN over night." "Ok and there is nothing you can do to help right?" Sorry you will have it thursday by 10:30."

So I call my store sorry guys wont be in untill late today got to wait for some dead sticks in the mail.

Here I am at almost 10:30 and I track and it show the package is at a facility 15 minutes from my house so I call them.

"Hmmm well I will have the station call you and let you know when the package will be there" "Ok well its 15 minutes from my house can I go pick it up?" "The problem is that they arent sure what truck it is on or is being loaded to so we have to wait for them to call you and give you a ETA but you should get it sometime today."

I am sooooo pissed. I also had bought some frags from a reefer that went out wed for thursday so I would have been late to work anyway but I got those 5 (pink jade, jen dubs appocolypse war coral, purple monster, icefire echinata, and rainbow monti) this morning by 9:30 from UPS.

I just cant believe that when a package is late it gets more messed up, not less. You would think they would say opps we dropped the ball get this one out ASAP for first delievery on thursday. AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH

ok vent over....

Sorry to hear that. For some reason, I've had the best luck sticking with UPS. Any shipping issues I've had in the past was always with FedEx.

people in internet land seem to talk more smack on UPS than FedEx, but I agree... I prefer UPS generally. If nothing else, FedEx's online tracking is the worst... almost as useless as USPS's tracking.

Sorry about the experience. I wonder if the seller wrote "LIVE FISH" on the box, like was done for my live rock, they would've recognized a need for urgency with it.

As far as your package seeming to get screwed up more when it’s already running late, picture yourself driving down a busy interstate and you get a flat tire. Pull over to the side to address the issue, but then it’s a PITA to merge back onto the highway. Same deal kind of I’m thinking, a package get’s out of its natural flow and it just creates confusion and headache to get it back on track.

Not the way I drive lol...

My package still tracks at the fedex station and they never called me either. I use to like Fedex, I just changed my mind.

That's what I was kind of getting at... I just had something shipped to me FedEx ground from California... last update on the tracking was something to the effect of "Arrived at destination" (in CA), and it remained unchanged for days. But while I'm fretting about it not getting any action, it appearently was on a truck moving it's way across the country, because next update it was suddenly in a hub a few miles from me. Now I know Ground vs. Overnight are two different monsters, but the point is that FedEx seems to pick and choose when they want to update their tracking system based on their laziness level that particular day. :?

I just talked to the shipper and they told me they called fedex and fedex told them they were waiting for me to go pick it up and I should call them right away to see if I can still go pick it up, wtf is the matter with them...

then I call fedex, they tell me well did they tell you there was damage to the package? I am like no, then shes like well I dont know what kind of condition it is in and on the trace it shows out for delievery but also shows it is still at the station.

I am like can I go get it, shes like yeah but there is no way for me to tell you if it is there or not...

wow...

Ok Ill stop venting now I got it. I drove to the fedex place and told them the tracking number and they said "No one told us you wee coming I put that on a truck for delievery 5 minutes ago let me see if the truck is still here." When I saw him come back with a package I was happy.

They are floating in my sump now to tempature acclimate then I am going to drip acclimate them in a bucket for a while. I think its only going to be a 25%-30% loss. I'll have to see when they are in the tank though.

This happens with all shippers. They all suck when there are problems.

I prefer fedex nowadays because I had terrible service from UPS. With fedex, I usually just have them hold it at a kinkos or other facility and I can pick it up by 9am.

I ship a LOT of stuff (200-300+ shipments a week).... UPS bites, USPS bites, DHL bites, and FedEx bites but FedEx bites the least.

You must have a bad local hub then as 90% of my shipments are overnight perishables. Where are you located?

A funny thing happened with fed-x one day this winter to me. They actually left my box (labeled live goods) outside in a snow storm. Funny how they said what time the package would arrive, and because they were not there when posted, it was my fault.
Some things I do not understand.

Being labeled "live goods" doesn't mean anything to them unless your a handful of companies. FedEx's general policy is no livestock.

It's best in winter to have such packages be held at the local station. This almost always means you can pick up early in the morning or it sits in a nice and warm office until you arrive :)

Awe man, you all have me all worried now. I've got a FedEx shipment due to arrive in the morning. I hope I'm not jinxed now. IME receiving fish through FedEx, they never get it to my house by 10:30 as they are supposed to. It always gets there around 12-1. I tryed calling about it a few times and they always have some BS excuse. One time they said it was because of ice on the runway. The only problem with that was that it was coming from Florida to NC and it was like 75 degrees there and 65 degrees here. Some of these folks remind me of that Flight attendant from the movie "Tommy Boy".

FedEx simply can not EVER ship my packages on time if I overnight something to a friend, from here (Erie, Pa) to Cincinnati. It always gets stick in their Memphis facility a whole extra day, then it takes months for them to "investigate the issue" before I'm refunded my shipping fee.

That said, they have never once damaged my packages, unlike UPS. UPS gets it here on time, every time, but not always in one piece.

I just go with USPS now for most stuff.

FWIW I was pretty pissed but am over it now lol. Most of the time fedex if pretty got for me, then again most of the time I do hold for pick up at my local fexex place.

All well I ended up losing 6 of 20 sps frags.
