I'm going to be changing out my 250W MH's soon. I've tried a few over the years including Aqualine's (10K) XM's (20K) Right now I am running Hamilton 14K's

I really like a Bluer look but I noticed better growth with the lower kelvin bulbs, especially the 10K's, over the 20K's.

I was considering Phoenix 14K's but am also considering going back to the 20K's because I like the look. Any suggestions?

Thanks, Jimmy

10ks will give you more light energy in the tank, can't really suggest a DE bulb to use other than the Phoenix if you want a "bluer" bulb.

ushio 14KK's. Great bulb. Especially if you don't have Actinic supplementation.

20k bulb with good par?? not on the DE side of things, and that's even if you had a m80 hqi ballast that over drives the bulbs as opposed to an electronic ballast.

Check out Sanjay's pages, you can even sort via color temp you want to look at.

Just make sure whatever you do is select shielded Y, don't want to get your hopes up on too many unshielded bulbs that seem to have good PAR :D

yeah, i'm leaning towards the Phoenix 14K's. My LFS has some Reeflux 12K's for a good price ($59.99) any experience with these?

Thanks for the Sanjay Link, BTW not sure I understand what those numbers mean though...

Reeflux 12ks are IMO the best looking color coming from a bulb out there, white with a hint of blue.... HOWEVER they have some of the crappiest PAR readings of any bulb out there.

Just a hint of blue huh? My problem is I don't have a whole lot of supplemental actinics. I have an old Aquaspace Light (AquaMedic) 3X250MH with 4X24W PC's.

Seems like the Phoenix bulbs are the way to go. Thanks for the help!
