ChemiClean + serpent star & clam-safe??
I read that it's safe- what about a a red serpent star- which I understand to be very touchy to changes- and a squamosa clam I've had for prob. 4 yrs., and is very large. I have red slime algae now, for 2 months. I have syphoned it off, but it returns rapidly. I feed the same as I have for years, so I don't know why now I have it.

IME when cyno kept returning it was on the sand and the sandbed was filled with detritus. I used chemiclean in the past and although it is a short term solution I no longer recommend or would ever use it again myself. Even if the chemiclean works and your inhabitants are fine you havent solved the root cause of the issue.

Common recomendations for cyno are incrased flow and nutrient control. I would suggest if you have a sandbed it may be the cause and stirring small sections of it during water changes over the course of the next few months could solve the issue if all other ways of nutrient controll are in check.
