It depends on how many GPD your RO/DI produces, that one is only up to 100 gpd.

Any booster pump kit will work, but for the price and the features, the smart buddie is really a great value. You do not need to match brands. I use the smart buddie with a spectrapure ro/di unit

Why so many hoses required?

Because it has an integrated auto-flush valve and safety pressure switches. These are used at different stages of the RO/DI unit and you have to disconnect + separate the stages and use more lines to bridge them properly. All of the connections are within the booster pump unit. @bvega789 if you need any help, feel free to drop by and I can show you how it's setup + how to set it up with your unit before you make the purchase.
