Yes, that would be the bare minimum for a Coral cat shark (Atelomycterus Marmoratus) that could live there, as long as it is the only fish in the tank.

if you are thinking of an eel definately go with Zebra EEL HAD ONE FOR YEARS IN A 75 GALLON TANK just make sure you give him a good space to hide.

Water volume is one concern but corners also. Sharks and stingrays both do better in rounded tanks (which are expensive since likely custom). But the 225 will hold them for a very short-term. The problem is the shark will outgrow it quickly then you get stuck in a re-home scenario or a less than ideal setup for the shark.

Sorry, but I have to say this……do not put a shark in either of your two size options. I don’t care what kind it is, your tanks are too small for any shark for more than temporary housing.
