Yea they do. But that's why they say the light has to be on 24/7 to prevent that.I believe those go sexual and release toxins into the water.
I think I'm going to grow some in a separate system. I know the tangs love itHeh, there is a reason caleurpa is the preferred macro for algae scrubbers. According to the scurbber forum, plants also need a daily light cycle, otherwise it will crash. The forums says at least 6 hours off per day.
