Reef tank and personal life?

Hey reef community.
Just curious, has your reef tanks ever put a strain on your personal or social life?

Sure it has! Especially when you have to explain to your wife you need $200 for a new pump!! Lol

Absolutely! I was in a bad relationship, and I was away for a work conference and my tank had an issue where the "bathtub" in the stand had filled with water. I knew it was a bit dangerous for anyone but me to mess around with fixing it, because the electrical was just above where the water would have been.

So I told my significant other not to touch it and don't worry about it. I knew exactly what had happened to it and everything was functioning properly, it just needed to be cleaned up.

However, to this day she accuses me of not caring about the tank and letting it sit broken, she thinks that all of the animals could have died, but they were never in any danger.

Sort of irritating that no matter how I would try to explain my decision that someone else can't hear or listen, they simply want to believe that I am a bad person.
