Red Sea 250 leak :(

So yea.. a very small leak on the right back bottom seam was found on Sunday. Its a classic 250 which is about 8 years old now. Red Sea says its too old to replace as they have the G2 only now. I put silicone in the tank (with water in still) and stopped the leak but I know I need a new tank soon.

I am looking to replace about the same size and wonder if people have thoughts:

Waterbox Marine X 90.3 $1900

Innovative Marine Nuvo INT 75 $2700

Is it poosible (unlikely) to get a new similar sized tank and put it on the red sea 250 cabinet (which is still in very good shape).

No idea if there's another company that offers a tank of these dimensions without going custom, but I love the IM systems. The tanks, plumbing, and sumps are really nice. I really like their aluminum stands as well. If you can fit an EXT model, it's great to have the additional space for flow inside of the tank.

The tank is the most important thing, so even through you want to save money, it's best to not skimp on it. As for the stand, you need to look at the cuts in the stand for the overflows, as that is where they would need to match up.

I got a Planet Aquariums and it's a tank built like a battletank (I wanted specific dimensions and that was the only solution). The shipping was more than the price of the tank though. But you can get a quote from saltwateraquarium.com if you want to go that route (it costs 25$)

If you like the tank , contact Red Sea and tell them about the leak and ask for credit toward the new 250 G2 and save ( see if they will work on a deal for tank only ) it’s worth a try, Good luck .
