Sebae Anemone Question

Hey Guys,

Question: I have a Sebae Anemone for about 3 months and now I am beginning to see brown spots on it. Its totally white with purple tips but it is beginning to get tan spots. Is this a sign that the anemone is beginning to deteriorate? I know Sebae Anemones are some of the hardest anemones to keep, hoping I can change that around somehow. I have the anemone under 260 watts of power compact lighting in a 55 gallon tank. All params are stable. I feed him 3 -4 times a week. Usually a serving of one frozen prawn.

I think the Sebaes are supposed to be a tannish color rather than the white color you see at pet shops. It could be getting healthier...someone else should chime in here..I think its a good thing tho.

sebae suppose to be brown, when they are white, they are bleached. Congrats you just saved a sebae anenome =D

charlie are the tentacles on yours pretty long, and thicker and longer on the outside??mine is greenish brown with purple tips, this thing is a monster.more than a foot across when fully open, i feed it shrimp from the supermarket and other seafoods every now and then.usually at least one shrimp every two weeks, big shrimp.

woooooohooooooooo, Did I really save a this guy. By the way charlie, I feed him frozen prawn. If any of you guys have sebae's do u keep them under pc's or halides? I want to upgrade to metal halides, maybe ill get it as a bday present next month. Gotta start givin hints to the family. The benefits of being a college student. . .show my parents im poor and i really need these lights. lol

yeah, sebae are not easy anenomes to save, jose's sebae is huge, takes up half his tank. maybe when jose gets his 180 up he can buy my green carpet from me, only person i know witch a big enough tank hehe.

jose yeh man its like medium tentacales they are purple i just bought it from fish town and they called it a purple flat anemone what ever it is my sebae clown loves him, jose you will see mine sunday and may be u will know what it is , oh yeh and about the lighting i got 2 175 watt 14k metal halides 4 110watt vhos atinic ,moonlights and( 2 40 watt atinic flouresents for my viewing pleasure )jose do u got any pics of him

i want the purple sebae anenome. not that common in fish stores, what i like about sebae anenomes are they like to dig their foot into sand.

You guys are bringing back memories. Had mine for 3 mo, before it got stuck in a powerhead. It was a very sad day.

Mine I bought white with purple tips & it stayed that way the entire time.

See mine should look like that, but it looks flat! I want it like yours . . .lol. Its changing colors now slowly, maybe after that. What kind of flow do these guys like?

generally they like, inbetween rock and sand area.
