definitely coming from the skimmer.
you can try retro fitting a bubble trap, but that takes up some space.
i heard remora makes very good skimmers with bubble traps.

micro bubbles will hurt your coral....as they accumulate on the coral (considering they stay on the same spot for a while), the coral will be exposed to air for a longer period of time than should be allowed.this overexposure to air will cause tissue to die off, possibly causing the demise of the coral.

Yea microbubbles suck. I had them coming out of my remora when i had it. All i did was stick a sponge infront of the part where the water came out and presto no more micro bubbles. I would have to go with a turkey baster and blow away all the bubbles in the morning.

I don't think micro bubble would hurt the coral, they should not stay on your coral for long if you have good flow in the tank.

Just imagine the micro bubbles created on a fringing reef from the all the wave pounding at low tide.
