I recently bought a Coralife Super Skimmer 125 from a fellow reefer. The skimmer, however, didnt come with a pump. I know it needs 500 gph, but i was recently told i need the special coralife skimmer because it has the needle wheel or something. Would i be able to use a mag 5, or will i have to special order the coralife pump from coralife?

if it is a needle wheel pump you will need a needle wheel pump to replace it
any needle wheel would technically work.
Or you can just get the mag 5 and put the plastic guard over it and wedge some airline tubing in the guard so it is right before the impeller. You'll see where it starts producing a lot of bubbles.
if you already have the mag, it is worth a shot. We are running one like this on a 65 needlewheel model and the 220 venturie (just don't use the air intake that is provided with it)
