Hippo Tang with Ick

My recently aquired Hippo Tank has a mild case of Ick all over its body. I can not catch it so I can not quarantine it. How should I treat it?

it would help to know what type of tank you have and what is in the tank. there are some medicine that are not good to use with inverts, live rocks, etc... btw, hippo tangs are VERY prone to ick.

do you have corals in your tank,
or any inverts,
Live rock?
that might lead to you to the type of medicine you will use,
OR if its that mild, you might be able to naturally nurse it back to health, i.e.
keep condition perfect, (no temp or salinity fluctuations,)
in addition to grear feeding, maybe garlic soaked or enriched food.
what size is your tank by the way

I've used this stuff , I think it's Ruby Reef kick ick.
I used it years ago with great results with no ill effects on anything but the ick.
From what I've heard you have to treat the whole tank in order to get rid of it
because it can live in you tank on the rocks.
correct me if I'm wrong but the kick ick does work and it's reef safe.

kick ick is suppose to be reef safe...personally used it once with no ill effects on the reef, but didn't get rid of my ick

The absolute BEST cure for ich is a pair of lysamata (sp?) cleaner shrimp. As long as you don't have large wrassers or other fish that will eat them, or never put copper in the tank they will be OK. The fish will be ich free overnight.

Forget chemicals, they do more harm than good in the long run. The pair of shrimp will also produce TONS of coral food. (In pairs they ALWAYS carry eggs and release larva in the water every few weeks that the corals will love)

his tang is being stressed out by a purple tang. this guy is a class act. this is a bump up for him. also he has about 300lb.c of live rock in the tank. its a territory problem that will eventually go away rick
