I want to drop some pellets on my ricordias/acans/polyps/dendros etc, but I have that squeegee device but pellets and mysis clog it, that or then they come shooting out and fly past my target.
Cut the top off a pepsi bottle, put minute holes into it so it will sink and not float up or away so water passes threw it and then place it over the coral. You then use your baster, eye dropper squeegee or whatever and place it into the top portion of the hole and squeeze softly. Majority of the food will stay within the confines of the cut out and land on the coral.. Just don't blast away and have sand fly inside. Worked for me. Or you can just use Oyster Feast and phytoflex to pour into a high flow area.... mority of the corals will eat that way aswell. Ohh if you use the 1st method with the cut off pepsi bottle... turn off all pumps. Then turn on after 30 minutes. The second part I mentioned is alot easier as it travels with flow so all corals get to eat that way. My 2 cents
I use 2 items. For the fine stuff the Kent Marine sea squirt mentioned is very nice. For me, this thing clogs very easy, so for some stuff I use a cheap turkey baster I get from the supermarket.
I started spot feeding a while back and notice my corals grow faster. Not only that, it is cool to see my LPS and chalices with their mouths open.
I learned a trick from an MR speaker. I dip even my flake food in a cup of sea water and mix that with my frozen food. My corals now eat everything (even some flake food). I like it this way, for variety. I feed lots of frozen food during the week with some flake food and corals and fish "go for it".
PS. Anybody know what is that thing on the end of the sea squirt near the nozzle is used for?
I mix frozen brine, frozen cyclopezee and kent phyto, then I use a 10 ML syringe with my pumps shutdown. The only bad thing is that my fish eat a lot of the food so I need to keep them away from the corals.
LFS have clear tubes in many diameters. These were used on undergravel filters. You can cut one to legnth and it makes a great spot feeder for chopped seafood for nems or elegance. Just drop the food in the top and it slides right where you want it.
