Yesterday, I had dinner with a friend at a local restaurant and we ordered fresh seafood platter to start. When it arrive, there was a lot of fresh seaweed garnish on top of the crushed ice in three tier platter. I was wondering if those are safe to use in a refugium or to feed to my voracious tangs. I sure hope they don't use them as a garnish again and I have no problem asking the waiters to wrap them up.

I use sushi nori everyday for my tangs. There are two types that I know of. One is processed and salt added. The other is natural.

From a restaurant, unless you saw the package it came out of, and can ascertain that no seasonings were added to the top of it then I wouldn't use it.

It's cheap as can be. The Asian market by me sells it for $2 per bag. Each bag has about 10 sheets in it. The sheets are about 8" x 8".
