mangrove stem turning brown

I have 3 mangrove plants for 1 yr in mud filter,now one of the mangrove plants is turning brown. Is it dying? the roots are still fasten to the substrate.

Is it the top where the leaves are coming out of? Mine did that when it didn't get enough light the top part turned brown, dry up and fell off. A new branch grew out of the side and leaves came from it. I thought it was dying at first but it came back with new leaves and looks as good as the others but just shorter.

It started on the top now it's half way down the stem.
the other 2 mangroves are green down the stem?

The mangrove has a thick stem and then what looks like a branch comes out of the stem, the branch is what has the leaves on it. On mine the leaves fell out and then the branch dried up. A new branch eventually came out of the stem. So as long as the bottom stem is still ok a new branch should grow out of it. It did take a while for mine to grow a new branch.
