Hi Everyone,

I have set up a new 75 gallon tank. The tank is fully cycled. All water parameters are at zero as far as test kits are concerned. Half of the live rock was taken from my 45 gallon tank and the other half came from Bluk reef supply. the rock from BRS was in the tnak when it was cycled.
All was okay until I put the lights on the tank. ( Nova extreme 4 bulb fixture)
two 12k bulbs, two 460 actinic bulbs. I now have a huge Diatom Bloom, I think.
It looks like brown algae on the sand and rock.
What do I do to get rid of all the Diatoms algae?

Thanks,

Im in the SAME EXACT situation...same lights, same algae, and everything almost. What I started to do was put Chemi pure in my filter and I will see what happens. You want to stay on top of this stuff, and take a new tooth brush or something and always clean it off the rock. This is slime algae, and its so tough on everything. Get Chemi Pure as a start.
