Hello all,

I am not sure if this is the right place to ask this question but I figured... ask the experts.

In general, how feasible is it to ship (fastest possible method of course) livestock and corals from USA to UAE and have them arrive in good condition?

I realize that this is an open ended question without mention of specifics but I am wondering if it is even feasible to even "think" of using mail order suppliers in USA to add some interesting or useful stock to my tank.

What ships well over a longer period? Obviously alot of stock comes from this part of the world (or farther) and makes it to US but that must include different parameters than when shipping small orders to the hobbyist.

Can you please shed some light on the potential of receiving shuipments from US?

Thank you.

Carolyn

It's going to be tough for any mail order site to ship things out of the country. Even to Canada it's an issue. When you look at UAE, you have to fill out export paperwork, Fish & Wildlife papers(including an import/export license, which most small operations don't have), CITES documents for corals/seahorses/rocks, book space on a flight. The flight usually takes a few days notice to book, and 1 box is going to be very expensive to ship since you will have to pay not only the freight, but airline import fees, export fees, an inflated weight for the minimum, etc.

You're probably best off trying to find someone growing corals or selling fish nearby. You have the Red Sea right there, there's someone growing corals there, so that might be the best way to go, or hobbyists in Singapore or Germany. You're going to need CITES for the corals no matter what.

How much does an import/export license cost?
