Scolymia question

What makes the skeleton of a scolymia stick out through it's skin? All water parameters ideal. I tried different placement in tanks with different light and different water flow. Any ideas?

from your pictures that u posted they looked healthy where are they placed? I have 3 of them and they're on the sandbed and i feed them once a week!

They were puffed. I feed them clam weekly.

Try some Cyclop-eeze

phtyo plankton, cyclop, realy any meaty foods. Make sure they are not getting burnt by the light being to bright

They could also just be expelling waste, but mine seem to only do that when the lights are off.

Handling it on the flesh?? Grab it from the bottom if ur not already..

I wouldn't put it directly on the sand bed but it depends on whether it is a Scolymia australis or vitensis or if it is in reality a cynarina (sometimes they are called wrongly)

By the way it is my first post, Is there any picture in the mesage so I would know which species it is?
