    any thoughts...
  2. reeflo/sequence pump question and head loss

I'm having a hard time calculating head pressure - I used the headflow calculator but the one I found does not have these pumps in it. I already have a reeflo wahoo pump, which when I plug into a power meter it tells me that when fully open its consuming 300watts... my question is, can I use...
  3. lifereef or octopus skimmer

can the mesh wheel be purchased separately and added on or does it have to be modded?
  4. lifereef or octopus skimmer

Need some opinions... I have both brand new Ocotopus DNW-200 recirculating skimmer and a Lifereef VS3-30 Venturi skimmer. Wondering if anyone has experience with both and what your thoughts were...the Octopus is a bit of pain because of the size and a loud recirculating pump, compared to the...
  5. chiller for a 265 - help needed

ok...so I've been looking at chillers since it seems while some of my fish are ok at 83-84 degrees, most seem uncomfortable and some are developing ich and some kroked over as they just don't like that temp...has to be temp. as everything else has been test 10 times and is clean as can be...
  6. pump question, reeflo, panworld or blueline - need help

for the skimmer, I went with a panworld 50px-x (blueline 30hdx) and for the return I went with a reeflo wahoo. since I'm splitting the main return feed to 3 cylinders, amount of flow to return is not too concerning as I'm prob. right at the 600gph mark for each return.
  7. pump question, reeflo, panworld or blueline - need help

well...so I replaced both my little giants, one that was running my skimmer and one that was running my return, and I must say not only I'm a happy with the heat transfer but the noise, oh boy, the noise is gone - I close the cabinet doors and the coralife plastic fan is the loudest thing and...
  8. pump question, reeflo, panworld or blueline - need help

$700 a month! I hope you're spending this much because you have a store...business.... I mean I'm spending prob. 40-50 now and I'm mad as hell...I can only image spending $700 before normal spending :)
  9. head pressure question...

Need to know if I'm doing this right when trying to calculate total head pressure: 1. from pump outlet to return on left side is 2ft HORIZONTAL and 6ft VERTICAL 2. from pump outlet to return on right side if 6ft HORIZONTAL and 3ft VERTICAL based on the above and not accounting for any 45...
  10. pump question, reeflo, panworld or blueline - need help

i have considered submersible, unfortunately, the issue I'm having is with heat transfer...too much from my little giant, I think less, prob. 1-2 degrees from the Panworlds and virtually none to .5 degree from the Reeflo's...hence the attractiveness not to mention the decibel level... I refuse...
  11. pump question, reeflo, panworld or blueline - need help

that's what I hear, that the Reeflo (Sequence) pumps are MUCH quieter and much more efficient, which equates to less heat, less electricity, etc...however; the ONLY concern that I have there are the seals...since they use a shaft and are sealed I'm wondering if it's worth the risk of after 2...
  12. pump question, reeflo, panworld or blueline - need help

wondering what pumps are suggested based on experience... I have a 265 fish only and have a little giant 4-MDQX-SC running my return which I'm not happy about at all do to noise and heat transfer...(it's also underpower because I'm splitting into I've been doing some extensive research and...
  13. Mr_X's 200

wondering what pumps you are using... I have a 265 fish only and have a little giant 4-MDQX-SC which I'm not happy about at all do to noise and heat transfer... I've been doing some extensive research and I've narrowed it down to either a Panworld, Blueline (which I believe are the same) or a...
  14. new custom tank - need assistance/advice....

thanks for all the help.... so, if using the tunze pumps, etc...those are only to allow for water movement inside the tank, nothing going back to the sump, correct...? as the only thing going to the sumps is the drains, and the returns coming back into the tank... with that being said, for a...
  15. new custom tank - need assistance/advice....

yes, I will be having about 150-200lbs of live rock in the tank. would I need any powerheads inside the tank to move the water or will the returns be enough, and if so, would a 2400gph pump work as a return or should I go slower... This is where I get mostly confused...since I read the more...
