  1. JBJ Nano Cube....... Unmodified

I have one on my 29 gallon. The rough dimensions are 4.5" wide (from outlet to outlet across the top), 5.5" tall, and just over 2.5" thick. I'm pretty sure it would fit back there.
  2. What upgrades do u recommend for my new jbj 12g nano cube?

There are many different ways to set one of these up. It really depends on what your goals are. What are you planning on keeping in it? How experienced of an aquarist are you? Do you live in a warm climate (heat can be an issue with these tanks)?
  3. My nano

Interesting....Andy is the current president of the Atlanta reef club. We had our last meeting at his shop last week. Nice guy, and he does some nice acrylic work. He has a pretty amazing 400 gallon tank in his shop with something like 2400 watts of light over it. You need sunglasses to look...
  4. Live Rock and Nano Tanks

Matt and Brandon have some great advice so far. Hitchhikers are bad. I look for rock that is encrusted with lots of corraline algae and relatively devoid of other kinds of algae, although a small piece of macro can be nice. Scrub the rock down before you add it to your nano, and preferably...
  5. My new NANO

I've been seeing lot's of these new nano-cube setups lately. Yours looks very nice. It's very interesting to see how everyone does something a little different to try and improve them. Please do post details on your skimmer design when you get it worked out.
  6. JBJ 12 gallon nano cube review and pictures

There are many ways to be successful with this (or any) reef tank. The choice of wet/dry or not is really your own personal decision. I would say that the majority of reef-keepers avoid wet/dry filtration. I chose to use it to see how it performed on a nano reef tank. With regular water...
  7. A Mag 7 is way too powerful for water movement in a 29 gal

...but the Mag 7 is just about perfect to use as a sump return on a tank that size. It works well on mine. Couple it with a SCWD and you have some nice alternating currents. Save it for an upgrade later on...
  8. JBJ Nano Cube filter.. How to maximize whats there?

Here is some info on the modifications I did: http://reefs.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=36453 The tank does not come with a spraybar. I have seen people modiify the pump outlet to fit some kind of spraybar that you can buy. I have not done this. I did notice a small leak in the back filter...
  9. JBJ Nano Cube filter.. How to maximize whats there?

Well, I glued an acrylic piece against the second partition. I did this so that the wet/dry filter was actually partially dry. If you are not willing to do this, then I would suggest getting rid of the bio-balls completely and using that filter compartment for some other kind of media. Use...
  10. trouble cycling new nano

I would suggest letting the tank stabilize for a little bit. Another small piece of live rock will help give some extra filtration capacity. Have patience and let the tank reach an equillibrium. After that you can add a small fish. Keep in mind that even though damsels are hardy fish, they...
  11. JBJ 12 gallon nano cube review and pictures

I think I've seen someone do this before to a nano-cube. I think they used some easily obtained aquarium parts and drilled out the outlet to fit them. I'll see if I can find it later.
  12. New JBJ Nano Cube

Looks good Ducman. It looks like that extra light really helps. You can probably keep things cool with fans, but you're going to need to move a lot of air through that hood. Evaporation will be an issue, but if you figure out how to do an auto top-off, then you should be fine. And Matt is...
  13. JBJ 12 gallon nano cube review and pictures

Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience with this tank. I would like to address your points though. I think many of them have a simple solution. 1) I have no cyano or hair algae, but it hasn't been running for over a year yet. I think the key to prevent this is to vacuum the filter...
  14. New JBJ Nano Cube

Looks great so far. You did a nice job adding the extra light. Are the ballasts all mounted externally now? Have you thought about how you will vent the hood to reduce heat? In the summer months my cube (with stock lighting) would creep up to around 85 degrees in an air conditioned room. I...
  15. Growth on blue/green chromis

It could be Lymphocystis, but it's hard to tell without seeing it. My clown had it a while back and recovered completely. It ran it's course in about a week. I believe Lymphocystis is caused by a virus and not a fungus as Loule suggested.
