I don't know anything about how Hydors handle battery backup so I can't help you there.

Oh, this battery is made specifically for Ecotech equipment. It basically bypasses the mp10/40/60 controller box's normal power so it runs the pump on DC/battery instead of the AC when power goes down from the mains. This accomplishes two things. First it doesn't have to go through conversion...

Hey, I added a photo in the OP. I made it myself out of a part of an old wet/dry. It's not the prettiest thing but I needed a space for a fuge under my old 75 next to my ProFlex so I made this which drains out of a 1" elbow into some 1" flexPVC. It worked really well to add some more water...
