  2. Complete 180 Gallon Setup + Extras (Upstate)

A bit of a drive (about 100 miles north of NYC) but just in case someone might be interested... http://hudsonvalley.craigslist.org/for/1902956582.html
  3. cycling questions

When setting up a tank with live sand/rock, if there isn't much dieoff/bioload it's normal to see little to no increase in NH4 or NO2 levels. The idea that a tank has to "cycle" by showing spikes in these levels is a bit of a misconception left over from older filtration techniques, but the...
  4. My 52x28x28" 176 gallon (re) build thread

Wow, I guess I have been away for a while...Len is posting pics now!? :P
  5. Setting up my new 90 gal custom

I use a rubbermaid trashcan to hold RO/DI water and a Litermeter that draws from it to topoff the tank. Works pretty well although you have to tweak the dose rate a few times a year due to seasonal changes in evap rates.

  9. GSP with Toadstool?

Yeah - I've had them growing in clusters of zoanthids, GSP, etc. with no apparent negative effect...
  10. water parameters, are they cool?

Your Mg is not crazy high. Those numbers are fine IMO/IME. Keep doing whatever you're doing... Personally I don't get too worried about 'perfect' numbers. As long as they're in the ballpark and everything looks healthy, my philosophy is "if it ain't broke"...
  11. Some New Pictures

Looks good Dan! 8) (...you might want to change the date on your digicam  )
  12. My 110G CUBE!!!

  13. Happy news! My regal is eating

Ditto - I've thus far avoided them since I have seen quite a few perish in the care of much better fish keepers than I... Best of luck with yours Karl!
  14. New Setup (Again) opinions needed from all....

Sounds like a fun project.:) Personally, I wouldn't try to stretch 2 X 250 + 2 X 110 VHO over a six foot tank. If I was doing the 180 I'd probably buy another AGA (now Aqueon) which has two centerbraces which basically leads to using three halide lamps. I'd probably go with 3 X 250 + 2 X...
  15. TANG questions

Personally I think putting more than one aggressive tang in a tank that size will be a crap shoot. I know some people get away with it, but I think the probability is high that you'll have problems, if not initially, in the long run (or both). Myself, I've always avoided PBTs altogether given...
